Much more than just a kennel: Il Pastore Transumante is the where the world that surrounds the white dog of the transhumance is proposed from a modern point of view. It means professionalism and passion at your disposal, always.

The project Il Pastore Transumante was born with a distinct intention of its creator, the animal wellbeing manager Dario Capogrosso that is to spread and appraise worldwide Maremmano Abruzzese, the dog that he first got to know and to love as a young boy in Apulia, in the South of Italy, at the farm of his grandfather. The reliability, the professionalism, the long experience in both animal husbandry and dog breeding have made it possible for Dott. Capogrosso to create an entity that is greatly appreciated on the national as well as on the international level.

The dogs and their world are at the core of the project. Everything evolves around them and their needs: the management of the premises, the building of the packs, the daily relationship with the animals, the diet, the breeding and the well-being. At our kennel, the shepherding dog continues carrying out its ancient task of livestock guardian, and he does so incredibly genuinely, just as assumed by his genes. At our kennel, you won’t find rows and rows of cold impersonal dog boxes, but dogs that are free to move and run as they please in big fenced areas that are part of the 18 hectares of pastures and woods of the farm. All this is done in full respect of the nature and attitudes of this noble shepherd dog, without turning upside-down his spirit and temper that make him the Italian pride all over the world.

The main rule of the Animal Husbandry, and before that of the Nature itself, is that form follows function, and under this aspect, the Maremma sheepdog is a livestock guardian.
